gettex is operated as a trading platform of the Bavarian Stock Exchange and stands for fast and cost-effective stock exchange trading. Investors trade directly with the market maker in real time - without brokerage fees and without exchange fees. The market maker for shares, funds, ETPs and bonds is Baader Bank AG, the market leader among German market makers.
The offering comprises around 850,000 securities worldwide. In addition, there are over 700,000 certificates that can be traded directly with issuers such as BNP Paribas, Goldman Sachs, HSBC Germany and UniCredit. The broad product range, real-time execution and transparent cost model make gettex a technologically sophisticated trading platform.
Change of data provider and modernisation of the system basis
The gettex.de web platform was already based on TYPO3 CMS, but no longer met the technical and structural requirements of a modern, high-performance trading platform. Increasing demands on real-time data, maintainability and system clarity made a fundamental further development necessary. As part of a strategic relaunch, two central measures were therefore bundled: the change of the stock exchange data provider from Teletrader (Baha) to financial.com and the upgrade to TYPO3 v12. The aim was to future-proof the system architecture, clearly separate responsibilities and create a stable, long-term maintainable technical basis for further growth.
Project goals: Technical modernisation and clear system architecture
gettex pursued several objectives with the relaunch. Firstly, the change of data supplier was to be implemented in a structured manner. The new solution is based on widgets that contain market data as well as layout and interaction logic. This means that the complete data processing lies with the specialised provider, while the integration is clearly delineated. Secondly, TYPO3 v12 was established as the new technological basis. The upgrade creates a modern, long-term maintainable platform and ensures that current security standards, performance requirements and future extensions can be reliably mapped.
In addition, existing functions from the old system were transferred to the new architecture, technically modernised and made fully compatible with the current TYPO3 version. The project shows that a change of data provider and a major upgrade of an enterprise CMS can be realised in parallel if the architecture, interfaces and responsibilities are clearly defined.
Integration of the financial.com widgets
financial.com provides trading data via a JavaScript API. The widgets contain data supply, rendering and interaction logic. Specific TYPO3 plugins were developed for the integration. In the backend, editors or administrators can define which widget variants are loaded. Parameters such as instrument type or display form are configured and dynamically transferred to the respective widget. TYPO3 acts as the integration and control level. The technical separation has advantages: Market data processing remains with the specialised provider, while TYPO3 concentrates on structure, content enrichment and system integration.
Migration and modernisation of existing functions
In addition to the widget integration, central features from the existing system were transferred to TYPO3 v12 and further developed:
Personalised watchlist for stocks
Buy/sell buttons for forwarding to connected banks
Import processes for PDFs, structured securities information and news
Automated updating of relevant financial data
In addition, Solvian's certificate search was integrated via iframe. Statuses and interactions are synchronised via JavaScript communication between Iframe and TYPO3. This keeps the user guidance consistent.
The project was implemented in close cooperation with several specialised partners: financial.com took over the aggregation and delivery of the trading data as widgets, the site concept and design partner UNIBRAND developed the visual and structural concept, while Netresearch realised the TYPO3 upgrade as well as the technical integration and system integration.

As project manager at Börse, I would like to celebrate the great collaboration and the fact that we stayed on schedule and on budget! And because we can do it, we also relaunched the Börse München site together in the same year and went live four weeks ahead of schedule. Who else is going to imitate us?

Modern platform with a clear technical structure
With the relaunch, gettex has an updated system architecture that clearly separates data supply and content management. Financial.com handles the aggregation and presentation of market data. TYPO3 provides a stable integration and content platform. This clear division of tasks reduces complexity and creates long-term maintainability.
Technical stability and expandability
The upgrade to TYPO3 v12 forms the basis for future extensions and customisations. Existing features were not only migrated, but also technically modernised and adapted to current standards. The project shows that even in a sensitive financial environment, a change of provider and a major upgrade can be implemented in a controlled manner - without functional restrictions and without compromising the user experience. The new platform combines specialised data expertise with a powerful CMS architecture and is therefore technologically geared towards sustainable growth.
